5-Day Migration Safari – Calving Season
This 5-day safari takes you through Tanzania’s most scenic and wildlife-rich destinations, starting from Arusha and heading into the heart of Tarangire National Park, the Ndutu plains, and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will experience diverse landscapes from baobab-filled valleys and open savannah plains to crater highlands while enjoying excellent game viewing, including elephants, lions, cheetahs, and, depending on the season, the wildebeest migration. The itinerary combines both wildlife and cultural experiences, ending with a cultural stop in Mto wa Mbu before returning to Arusha.
Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park – Karatu
Your journey begins with a morning pick-up from Arusha, followed by a scenic drive south toward Tarangire National Park. As you enter the park, you’ll be welcomed by vast open landscapes dotted with iconic baobab trees and large elephant herds, one of the park’s most famous attractions. You will spend the day exploring different sections of the park, enjoying sightings of giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, various antelope species, and, with luck, lions lounging near the riverbanks. A picnic lunch will be served at one of the designated viewpoints, giving you time to relax before continuing your afternoon game drive. Later in the day, you will exit the park and head to Karatu for dinner and overnight.

The area is particularly famous during the calving season, when thousands of wildebeest give birth, attracting predators such as lions, hyenas, and cheetahs.
