Tarangire National Park

Welcome to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most enchanting wildlife destinations a true hidden gem for nature lovers and safari enthusiasts.

Whether you’re exploring on a game drive, a walking safari, a night game drive, or a hot-air balloon adventure, Tarangire offers something special for everyone. Unlike the busier parks of northern Tanzania, Tarangire provides a peaceful and exclusive safari experience ideal for those seeking an authentic connection with nature, away from the crowds.

A Haven for Wildlife: Tarangire is famous for its large elephant population, one of the highest densities in northern Tanzania. The park’s dramatic landscape dotted with ancient baobab trees and graceful acacias makes it one of the most scenic places in the safari circuit.

The Tarangire River flows through the heart of the park, drawing countless animals throughout the year. During the dry season, vast herds of elephants, zebras, and wildebeests gather along its banks, creating one of nature’s most breathtaking spectacles. Predators like lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas follow close behind, ensuring thrilling sightings for visitors.

Unspoiled Wilderness: Tarangire’s rolling hills, rocky outcrops, and open woodlands are home to diverse wildlife including buffalo, giraffe, impala, eland, waterbuck, ostrich, and gazelle. Rare species such as the fringe-eared oryx, greater and lesser kudu, wild dogs, and gerenuks also roam here.

The park’s two landmarks  Tarangire Hill, rising 400 meters high, and the famous Poacher’s Baobab, a hollow ancient tree once used as a hideout, are must-see highlights.

A Paradise for Bird Lovers: With over 500 bird species, Tarangire is one of the best birding destinations in East Africa. It boasts the highest diversity of breeding birds in a single habitat. Visitors may spot the colorful yellow-collared lovebirds, brown parrots, secretary birds, kori bustards (the world’s heaviest flying bird), hornbills, buffalo weavers, vultures, and eagles soaring over the vast landscape.
